Second Nature Academy Tutorial

Okay. This is my result for the second tutorial by Andrew Price from his Nature Academy series, fairly obviously entitled, "Rocks".

There is more in these tutorials than I wind up remembering. Not only is there a good deal about modeling in Blender, plus the use of modifiers and a good deal about compositing.

The results are very impressive!

Finished the First Tutorial

Well, I finished the first tutorial from The Nature Academy.

There is a lot to learn with this freeware 3D program, but the investment in time (and dollars) is worth it to learn about compositing, rendering, and particle systems used to create such images.

Learning Blender 3D

Blender 3D is a freeware program (there is an interesting story for how it came to be) that can be used to create professional-level 3D results. I still say that the user interface is intimidating, but the program is perhaps the most powerful I have ever used.

It is updated with a scary frequency with new and better tools. The updates are so rapid that only video tutorials and online descriptions will have the latest tool sets and changes.

I'm using some video tutorials to follow some talented users and try to learn how to use this program, since my old favorite TrueSpace got dumped and is no longer being developed.

In any case, I was so amazed by the results of the latest tutorial I am using, that even though I am only one third into the tutorial, I wanted to put up the result. I'm amazed. This scene is nowhere near being done, but it is already the best "nature" scene I've ever done.

Wow.

Public Service: Pallin Alert

As a public service, I want to warn the American public about reports that Sarah Palin is once again on the loose.

Here is what her bus looks like (yup, she's on her own big decorated bus) so that you can avoid it if you see it.






Don't say I didn't warn you.

Her website (link at title) has a photograph of her struggling to read the Constitution of the United States. I hope she had someone there to read it to her.

Moving and Comcast

Well, changed town and county. It turns out that Comcast doesn't make changes to your account to reflect your move, they just give you a new account. New email address and so on.

What?

I'm trying to think of a dumber way to do business, but I haven't been able to come up with one ... yet.

I want to be real clear about this. The answer is "NO".
